Donald Trump talks a lot about making America richer. I think he’s going to make America’s debt a whole lot bigger.
America's national debt has already passed $40 trillion, and government projections show the country continuing to run massive deficits for years. The Congressional Budget Office currently projects another $26 trillion of federal borrowing by the end of 2036 if current laws broadly remain in place. (Reuters)
Trump didn't create this mess. Republicans and Democrats have both contributed to it for decades.
But Trump certainly isn't fixing it.
And I think eventually we all know what happens.
They’re Going to Print an Insane Amount of Money
Does anyone seriously believe Washington is going to balance the budget, dramatically cut spending and start paying off $40 trillion in debt?
I don't.
I think the debt keeps growing.
And when things eventually get uncomfortable enough, America will do what it has done before:
Create more money.
Call it stimulus. Call it quantitative easing. Call it liquidity.
Whatever.
They're going to print an insane amount of money.
And every time more dollars enter the system, scarce assets become more interesting to me.
Meanwhile, Regular People Feel It
This is what bothers me most.
Washington talks about trillions like they're Monopoly money.
Meanwhile, regular people worry about mortgages, rent, groceries, insurance and whether their income buys them the same lifestyle it did a few years ago.
Trump promised fiscal restraint. Instead, the national debt has passed $40 trillion during his second term. (Reuters)
Again, this isn't only Trump's fault.
But spare me the idea that he's coming to save America's finances.
I don't see it.
Trump Crypto? I’ll Keep My Money
Then we get to my favourite part.
While America's debt keeps climbing, the Trump family has done extremely well from crypto.
Trump reported more than $1.4 billion in income from his family's crypto ventures in 2025, with World Liberty Financial accounting for a huge portion of it. (Investing.com)
Good for them.
I'm staying miles away.
Here's my rule:
If the Trump family name is attached to a crypto project, treat your investment like a donation to the Trump family.
Personally, I don't want to pay for the jet fuel for their next family vacation to the Maldives.
They'll have to get there without me.

And when I talk about crypto, there is only one asset people need to focus on: Bitcoin. That's it.
Not Trump's coin.
Not the next meme coin.
Not the next celebrity token.
Bitcoin.
They Can Print Dollars. They Can’t Print Bitcoin.
This is ultimately why my thesis is so simple.
There will never be more than 21 million Bitcoin.
Trump can't create more.
The Federal Reserve can't create more.
Washington can't vote to create more.
But dollars?
They can create trillions of those.
Now imagine another decade of rising debt and more money entering the system while more individuals, institutions, companies and governments want Bitcoin.
They're all competing for the same limited supply.
That's why $1 million Bitcoin doesn't sound crazy to me.
I’ll Take the Scarce Asset
Bitcoin will crash again.
People will panic again.
Someone will declare Bitcoin dead for the 500th time.
Fine.
I'm thinking much further ahead.
I don't think everyone should put everything into Bitcoin. But I certainly wouldn't own zero.
Because when I look at what's happening in America, I keep coming back to the same choice:
One asset can be created whenever the system needs more of it.
The other stops at 21 million.
I'll take the scarce one.
Trump is going to add trillions to America's debt. I think an insane amount of money eventually gets created.
And that's one of the biggest reasons I think Bitcoin eventually hits $1 million.
